Solomon Islands Western province says it is badly treated by central government

The government of Solomon Islands Western province has demanded that the national government give back 60 per cent of the revenues it receives from the province.

Provincial premier, Thornley Hite, says the province has had enough of being taken advantage of despite being the country's highest revenue earner.

He says the attitude taken by the government towards compensation claims by people in the province is another example of the discrimination the province has suffered at the hands of the government.

He says if the government fails to address the issues raised by the province's demands it would mean that Western province was not considered part of Solomon islands.
