Polynesian Airlines to offer special Niue flights

3:49 pm on 20 September 2002

Polynesian Airlines, which begins a regular direct air link between Niue and Auckland on October 28th, says it will provide a special one off flight for Niue Constitution Day on October 19th.

Polynesian's John Grainger says the flight will leave Auckland on October 15th and return on the 21st.

Meanwhile the Premier of Niue, Young Vivian, says people on the island are very excited about the new air link, which comes after the island's only regular air link was to Tonga, making travel to New Zealand and other destinations more expensoiive an time consuming.

It is hoped that the direct New Zealand link will revive Niue's tourism industry.

Mr Grainger says there has already been a lot of interest.

He says the best adult fare will be 1090 New Zealand dollars.
