The Law Society in Fiji has called for improvements to the state of the High Court in Lautoka.

The Daily Post newspaper quotes the Society President, Chen Bunn Young, expressing concern about the lack of judges and the state of the buildings.

Mr Young said the number of judges serving the court needed to be increased because of the large jurisidiction it serves.

He said the society had lobbied the government to appoint new judges every year, but their requests were turned down because of a lack of money.
