A West Australian District Court Judge has sentenced the two Indonesian fishermen convicted of smuggling the Tampa assylum seekers to Australia.

Four men had been on trial for illegally bringing 434 mostly Afghan boat people to Australia in August last year, but two were acquitted last night.

The other two were sentenced to seven years and four years jail.

The judge said he hoped the two men would be deported as soon as possible after serving their time.
