The Government of Niue expects its financial reputation will be restored after a decision to remove it from a blacklist of non cooperative countries.

Niue was one of several Pacific island nations included on the list set up by the Financial Action Task Force.

Niue's Premier, Young Vivian, says his country has always shown a willingness and commitment to cooperate with the international financial community in the fight against money laundering.

He says the decision by the FATF to remove Niue from the list will help restore the country's image as a respectable and responsible member of the international financial community.

Mr Vivian said Niue's name had been unfairly tainted by the blacklisting policies.
