Voters in New Caledonia's Lifou island will have to go to the polls again on Sunday after no electoral list of candidates won a majority in last weekend's municipal election.
Official results show the Caledonian Union has won 42 percent of the votes , beating the FCCI/RPCR coalition into second place.
Turn out was 46 percent.
The election was called after the polls held in March last year were annulled.
