French Polynesian president to benefit from amnesty

French prosecutors say the French Polynesian president, Gaston Flosse, should benefit from an amnesty for election-related offences.

This comes after the prosecutors appealed a ruling by a Paris court which last year acquitted Mr Flosse of a range of charges.

He had faced legal action for making false declarations about a loan from Vanuatu to buy a hotel in France and he also undervalued a property on Huahine.
