Fiji's ruling SDL Party says it wants to govern the country for the next twenty years.

The Fiji Times reports that this has been confirmed by the party president, Ratu Kalokalo Loki.

Ratu Kalokalo says to achive this aim the party will embark on a massive fundraising campaign and will seek donations from business houses and individuals for the running of the SDL office.

He says the idea has already been discussed between himself and the prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, and would go to an SDL board meeting once the prime minister returns from Kadavu province.

The SDL was formed only last year just ahead of the post-coup general election.
