Fiji Labour Party welcomes PMs changed stance on its inclusion in cabinet

The Fiji Labour party has welcomed a statement by the prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, that he is ready to work with Labour in his cabinet if the Supreme Court decision goes in its favour.

Labour leader, Mahendra Chaudhry says the statement is certainly different from what Mr Qarase has been saying in the past.

Mr Qarase told the people of Kadavu province this week that they should not worry about Labour's inclusion in the cabinet because he will ensure that affirmative action programmes for indigenous Fijians will continue.

He also said he will have the final say on who goes into the cabinet and into which portfolio.
