The University of the South Pacific is being warned that it will lose a lot of students if it pushes through high fee increases next year.
The treasurer of the student's association, Vinesh Shankar, says they've already delivered a protest letter signed by more than a thousand students to the vice-chancellor, Savenaca Siwatibau.
Fee increases for some courses will be as high as 35 percent after the administration admitted that the university was in dire financial straits.
Mr Shankar says students will abandon USP if the increases are pushed through.
"USP this year had a record number of enrolments and with their planned increases in fees some students will have no alternative but to go to other universities or institutions where fees are lower and they are able to afford them."
