A report from Fiji says the names of two local judges are in contention for a position on the International Criminal Court based in the Hague.
The Sunday Times says they are the recently retired former Chief Justice, Sir Timoci Tuivaga and High Court judge, Justice Nazhat Shameem.
The government will make a recommendation following an invitation from the International Criminal Court.
Both the Prime Minister and the Attorney General have declined to comment.
But women's groups in Fiji are reported to be lobbying hard for Justice Shameem because she already sits on various international bodies and has previously been Fiji's Director of Public Prosecutions.
