The Pacific Islands Chapter of the Internet Society has serious concerns about a request from Solomons Telekom that it's exclusive telecommunications licence be rolled over for a further 25 years.
SolomonS Telekom, which is 42 percent owned by the multi national Cable and Wireless, is the sole carrier of domestic and international telecommunications in Solomon Islands.
The Internet Society says there is a general consensus among users that a 25 year exclusive licence is extreme, and the period of exclusiveness should be cut to something more reasonable.
