Samoan police killer sentenced to death

Samoa's supreme court has sentenced a 34-year-old man to death for killing an off-duty policeman with a machete.

But the killer, Ma'anaima Lafai Faofua is expected to have his sentence commuted to life imprisonment on application to the head of state.

Ma'anaima said he killed the policeman Levi Clark Levi in his home only hours after being allegedly assaulted by the policeman.
