French minister to visit New Caledonia and Wallis

It has been announced in Paris that the French minister in charge of overseas territories, Brigitte Girardin, will begin a visit to New Caledonia at the end of next week.

Mrs Girardin will also visit Wallis and Futuna during her eight-day stay.

Since assuming her post, she has visited most French overseas territories including French Polynesialast August.

The minister has said she is committed to improving opportunities for residents in overseas territories as for them not to be disadvantaged over people in mainland France.
