Police in New Caledonia have carried out a large scale operation near Noumea in a bid to get those responsible for a spate of burglaries.
The Nouvelles Caledoniennes reports the operation in St Louis involved about 100 police in seven trucks and two armoured personnel carriers.
It is not known how many people were detained as the security forces try to solve dozens of break-ins and motorbike thefts.
This comes after a similar operation in the area last week.
The large police force was sent after a smaller team was earlier met by people throwing stones.
