Plane crash bodies recovered in PNG

11:46 am on 18 December 2002

In Papua New Guinea, the bodies of eight people, including the deputy governor of Madang, have now been recovered after a plane crash that killed all those on board.

The plane hit a cliff just just minutes after a remote airstrip was officially opened at the weekend.

A local councillor walked through the night to reach the coast to alert people to the accident.

The cause of the crash is yet to be established.
