The funeral of murdered Solomon Islands' former police commissioner, Sir Frederick Soaki will be held in Honiara today.

Sir Frederick, who was a member of the National Peace Council, was shot dead in Auki by a lone gunman on Monday.

For security reasons, it will not be a state funeral, but police will provide escort for a motorcade procession carrying Sir Frederick's body from his home in west Honiara to the church service, then back to the burial at his home.

The national broadcaster, SIBC, will broadcast the funeral service live from St Barnabas cathedral.

Meanwhile, the director of the Solomon Islands CID says there are still no leads in the investigation into Sir Frederick's killing.

Mr Ofu says a team from Honiara that has been in Auki since Tuesday has yet to make any progress.

"They are still getting reports from witnesses but they are yet to locate anyone who is believed to be a suspect in the case. So they are still working on that. A number of witnesses have been interviewed. But no-one has been located for questioning in relation to the killing."

The director of the CID, Jackson Ofu.
