Fiji tourism minister warns against internal violence

A Fiji government minister has warned that internal instability is a greater threat to the country than international terrorism.

The Daily Post reports that the warning has been issued by the minister for tuorism, Pita Nacuva.

Mr Nacuva says while one may attribute a foreign origin to terrorism through September 11th or the threat of war in iraq, one should not dismiss the internal origin of terrorism.

He says the biggest threat to Fiji is not from those international incidents but the prospects of domestic violence.

Mr Nacuva says this is the kind of violence that Fiji should guard against.

He says while it is difficult to predict terrorism, Fiji must expect its coming to play an important part in the country's tourism development.
