The Samoan Trade and Commerce secretary says he's confident that quarantine problems for exports to New Zealand can be overcome.

Falani Chan Tung says equipment is now in place to treat produce for exports to Samoa's biggest market which is New Zealand.

There's been concern at the delay in New Zealand in clearing administrative hurdles but Mr Tung says it's a minor issue.

"We do have the equipment now. I think what we need is the entrepeneurial skills that our people should have and to identify a product that will be able to penetrate in overseas markets ."
