Vanuatu's Ministry of Youth and Sports is changing its name to the Ministry of Youth Development and Training, and is promising to work closely with the country's 30 rural development training centres.
The Minister, Raphael Worwor, says the centres will be able to apply for funding through his office.
The focus of the Ministry will go on skills training, linking the rural training centres with the formal education sector and help them to become self sustaining without undermining their NGO status.
The Minister says effective rural training opportunities for young people will help reduce urban drift.
