Radio Fiji has begun rebroadcasting Radio France International on a separate FM frequency in Suva.
This follows an arrangement with the French embassy in Fiji and is in line with a similar deal to carry Radio Australia.
The head of Radio Fiji, Francis Herman, says negotiations are also under way with the US to re-broadcast the Voice of America.
Mr Herman says the foreign broadcaster provide the equipment.
"We've just installed it and we maintain it for them and they pay us a little fee per annum for electricity so it's purely a commercial deal"
