Fiji hospital brings nurses out of retirement to fill staff vacancies

The Colonel War Memorial Hospital in Fiji has been forced to re-employ 35 retired nurses due to staffing shortages.

The Senior Matron, Kini Filimuna, said they have given work to 10 part time nurses.

She said the shortages had been caused by staff leaving to work overseas.

Ms Filimuna told the Daily Post that said some foreign nurses had been employed to make up the numbers.

They were mostly from the Philippines
