Fiji has reported its first casualty in the war in Iraq.
The British high commission in Suva has confirmed that the soldier serving with the British forces suffered injuries and is being treated at a military hospital.
The British deputy high commissioner, Ian Powell, called on the soldier's family to inform them of his status.
He withheld the soldier's identity, saying to name him would be inappropriate
There are about 200 Fijian men and women with the British army in Iraq.
The Fiji government has not endorsed the invasion of Iraq which was launched by forces from the US, Britain and Australia.
