The acting chief executive of the Papua New Guinea Tourism Authority says that her industry could be the answer to the country's economic woes.
Erigere Singin says the government should be paying more attention to the tourism sector instead of only concentrating on traditional industries like agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
Ms Singin says PNG has many drawcards like its pristine water which can be used for diving, its diverse landscape and its unique culture.
She says tourism would also help address law and order problems by cutting unemployment.
"This industry provides great job opportunity...I am a believer in this industry if it is properly looked after and it is given the proper attention by my government, it can provide a lot of jobs for everybody."
Erigere Singin says she is planning to hold four regional forums this year to highlight PNG tourism's potential.
