8:09 am on 5 April 2003

The health department in Samoa says babies under the age of 5 months are most at risk from a flu which has affected thousands of people in recent weeks.

The deputy chairman in charge of Communicable Disease Control, Dr Stranley Dean, says babies are now to be targetted with inoculation shots.

Dr Dean says old people are also at risk.

In March, more than 15-thousand cases were registered.

There have ben no fatalities but the public hospital has struggled to find space for patients.
