A Japanese-funded jetty has been opened on Kayangel atoll in the very north of Palau.
The project, which included the dredging of a channel, cost 3-point-5 million US dollars and opens the atoll for better use by fishing boats.
The 116-meter jetty is expected to provide vessels a safe harbour in stormy conditions.
The island's governor, Harris Kambalang, says getting a jetty is like a dream for the island's 135 inhabitants.
