Indonesian military arrest suspect in last weeks armoury raid in Wamena

The Indonesian military has arrested man suspected of involvement in last weeks raid on an armoury in Papua province.

Fifteen armed men broke into the Wamena district military compound and made off with 29 high-powered rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Two soldiers and a suspected rebel were killed during the raid.

The detained man is described by the military as a local resident.

The district military commander says his soldiers had to shoot the man in the leg in order to capture him.

Meanwhile an internal investigation into possible army involvement in the raid is continuing.
