All air passengers departing Fiji will have to pay an extra 5 US dollars from tomorrow.
This will make the total departure tax charged by Airports Fiji Limited 15 US dollars.
The additional charge has been attributed to extra security provided after the September 11 bombings in the US and last year's terrorist attack in Bali, as well as upgrading of airports.
The executive chairman of Airports Fiji Limited, Viliame Leqa, says the security component is expected to increase as checks are further upgraded with the purchase of high tech equipment.
