Veteran Samoan police chief retires after 40 years

Samoa's Police Commissioner officially retired at the weekend after serving in the police force for more than forty years.

Asi Blakelock said he would now have time to rest and think more and spend time with his family.

Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele, who is also the Minister for Police, said the Assistant Police commissioner would take over until a permanent replacement was appointed.
