An American Samoan senator has been found guilty of contempt of court.
Senator Faiivae Galea'i was convicted for defying a court order stopping the burial of a man from neighbouring Samoa on land belonging to a section of the Faiivae family, the Hunkins.
The Hunkins had a temporary order to stop the proposed burial but Faiivae ignored it.
While claiming that as the head chief of his family in Leone, he had control over the lands, the court found him guilty of contempt and fined him 350 US dollars.
