International soft drinks giant Pepsi is looking at setting up a multi-million dollar bottling plant in Fiji, in a joint venture with a local business partner.

The Fiji Times reports that an announcement of the deal is expected next month.

The local partner is expected to be the Tappoo Group which has been the local distributing agent for Pepsi for many years and has a franchise agreement for other South Pacific countries.

The chairman of Tappoos, Kanti Tappoo, is quoted as saying a feasibility for the new Suva plant has been completed and they are now going over the details.

Coca Cola has had a bottling plant in Fiji for many years.
