Air Wallis seeks links with Fiji

Air Wallis wants to sign a five-year agreement with Air Pacific to service the French Pacific of Wallis and Futuna territory north of Fiji.

The chairman of Air Wallis, Marco Pululuvea, has told the Fiji Times this will enable the local airline industry to learn about aviation and train local pilots and cabin crew to take over.

He says having an air service with Fiji would also help to attract tourists and investors to Wallis and Futuna as well as open up trade.

Air Pacific says discussions are only in the preliminary stages and its involvement will only be to provide a Boeing 737-700 aircraft and crew for the Wallis and Futuna service.
