A Fiji government senator and vice president of the ruling SDL party is facing six additional charges for his alleged involvement in the November 2000 army mutiny which claimed eight lives
The Fiji Times reports that the fresh charges against Ratu Inoke Takiveikata include one count of conspiring to incite mutiny, four counts of inciting mutiny and another count of aiding soldiers in the act of mutiny.
The new charges relate to Ratu Inoke holding meetings with soldiers of the now disbanded Counter Revolutionary Warfare Unit which carried out the mutiny and with some members of the public.
He was initially charged with conspiring and aiding in mutiny and appeared in court earlier this year.
The case will be heard next month.
