Vanuatu's Department of Foreign Affairs has terminated the services of eight honourary consuls including those in France, Switzerland, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong.
The Director of Foreign Affairs saysthe consuls were dismissed for inefficiency as well as for not filing an annual report to the Vanuatu government,
The role of the consuls is to represent Vanuatu in their country, promote Vanuatu's investment and tourism industries and provide consular assistance to government officials and ni Vanuatu overseas.
