The threat of a strike by Polynesian Airlines flight attendants has been averted with an agreement to go to arbitration.

The Chief Executive Officer of the airline, John Ftizgerald, said industrial action had been threatened over reductions in allowances and in salary.

A continuing downturn in business has forced Polynesian to return a leased jet and ask the government for an injection of funds.

Agreements over the reductions has been settlend with associations representing the pilots, ground staff and the engineers
