The Public Auditor in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Mike Sablan, says his office is looking into the payroll of legislature employees to identify possible ghost employees.
Mr Sablan's comments come after the conviction of Senator Ricardo Atalig, who had hired another senator's daughter when she was still studying at college.
Mr Sablan says that case is not the only case being investigated.
But he says he can't give details because of pending investigations.
Mr Sablan says as of last week the office had received nearly 500 requests for investigation, audits or advisory opinion.
