The chairman of Vanuatu's national council of chiefs, Paul Tahi, has praised the French government and the European Union for supporting the promotion and preservation of Vanuatu culture.

Chief Tahi was speaking after signing a letter of agreement with French Embassy officials to fund the construction of a building to store a growing number of artefacts, many of which have been returned from overseas museums.

Chief Tahi says Vanuatu has been blessed with a rich cultural heritage and the assistance proves the growing relationship between Vanuatu and Europe.
