The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands, RAMSI, is planning an operation to capture the police officer charged with the murder of the former Police commissioner, Sir Frederick Soaki, earlier this year.

The special co-ordinator, Nick Warner, said they would welcome it if the suspect, Edmond Sae, surrendered himself to Ramsi.

Mr Warner said Ramsi had suggested to Mr Sae that it would be in his interest to surrender to police in Auki.

Mr Sae is also alleged to have killed another person when he fired a weapon indescriminately at an Auki police station.

He escaped from Rove Central Prison in April and is said to still be armed
