The Senate Select Investigative Committee in American Samoa has recommended its first case for prosecution.
For the past month, the committee has been investigating corrupt practices in government departments.
The Chairman, Senator Lualemaga Faoa has sent a letter to the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Public Safety asking for a criminal investigation into School Lunch Programme employee Faavale Sala for perjury and stealing.
Sala admitted to the committee that he lied when he was first questioned about a missing bread mixer last month.
He now says he took the mixer from the warehouse and sold it to a local restaurant for 500 US dollars.
