Telecommunication workers in PNG take action over privatisation concerns

4:37 pm on 29 September 2003

Telecommunications in Papua New Guinea are expected to be disrupted throughout this week as unionists take rolling protest action.

The PNG Communication Workers Union says the stoppages will be continue tomorrow morning, then Wednesday afternoon, Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.

The union is unhappy at the lack of response it has received to its concerns with the planned privatisation of Telikom PNG.

It wants clarification of how any sale will impact on employee's entitlements.
