American Samoa's former Chief Procurement Officer, Faau Seumanutafa has finally been granted bail after his initial attempt to use two properties failed to satisfy the court's requirement for a 100 thousand US dollar surety.
A third property belonging to another family member, along with Seumanutafa's parcels of land, have been accepted as surety.
Seumanutafa, who faces 18 counts of stealing, 10 charges of fraud and 15 misdemeanor counts of violating ethical conduct, was charged earlier this week after he surrendered to police.
Throughout his questioning by the Senate Investigative Committee the former director maintained he had no involvement in Samoa Wood Products a firm part-owned by his son, Leonard.
But the affidavit in support of his arrest warrant revealed he was personally involved with the firm's operations.
The former Chief Procurement Officer is also alleged to have ordered the alteration of eight furniture purchase orders.
