Four officials from the US Centre of Disease Control are due to arrive in American Samoa this week to assess the territories needs following a Rubella epidemic in Samoa.

Because of the close proximity of the two nations there are concerns that the disease could flare up in American Samoa as well.

The officials will be checking to see if vaccine supplies are adequate and will supply technical advice.

The Rubella outbreak has already claimed the lives of two children in Samoa.
