An Australian company has set up business in Fiji to provide secure money in transit facilities.

This follows the withdrawal of Armourguard from Fiji after million of dollars entrusted to it for transfer were taken by armed robbers, including some in which company security guards were involved.

The new company, Matrix Risk Management of Australia, has set up a local joint venture with an old-established Fiji cargo and freight company, Williams and Gosling.

The police commissioner Andrew Hughes launched Matrix Fiji in Suva yesterday.

The company plans to use its Australian experience for the safe transfer of cash in Fiji.
