American Samoa judge throws out fraud charges against procurement officer

There has been a major development in the American Samoan Government's case against its former chief procurement officer, Faau Seumanutafa.

He was charged last month with 18 counts of stealing, 10 charges of fraud and 15 misdemeanor counts of violating ethical conduct while in his post as the procurement officer.

Howver District Court judge John Ward has thrown out the ten fraud charges after accepting the defence's claim that the charges had been illegally applied.

The charges of stealing and violating ethical conduct remain with the preliminary examination of these due tomorrow (sat our time).
