The Solomon Islands Police Commissioner, Bill Morrell, has announced that thirteen police officers have been terminated as part of the the ongoing review of the Royal Solomon Islands Police.

Mr Morrell says another 95 officers will be retired as soon as money is available for their termination and retirement benefits.

The Commissioner says many of these officers who do not meet police recruitment and professional standards have been recruited over the past few years.

He says a recruitment campaign which will start towards the end of this year will ensure that Solomon Islands has a force of quality and professional officers who have no criminal records, have attained a high standard of literacy and are physically and mentally sound.
