Two Cook Island Cabinet Ministers given larger portfolios

Two Cabinet Ministers in the Cook Islands have been given greater responsibility following the resignations of the former' Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Terepai Maoate and the Minister for Outer Islands Development Tangata Vavia last week.

Nikao MP, Ngamau Munokoa who was named Deputy Prime Minister last week, is also the Attorney General, and takes on nine portofolios which include Transport, Civil Aviation and Shipping.

Akao MP Tapi Taio, who becomes Minister for Finance, is responsible for a number of portfolios previously handled by Dr Maoate which include the Bank of the Cook Islands, and the Development Investment Board.

Mr Taio takes over the office of the Minister of Outer Islands Administration and the Ports Authority from Prime Minister Dr Robert Woonton, who retains Foreign Affairs and Immigration among his nine portfolios.
