Two more attempts to kidnap young people have been reported in western Fiji as fears grow that a group of body parts traffickers may be at work.

The Fiji Times reports an unsuccessful attempt to abduct a 15 year old girl in Lautoka on Tuesday night and the next day 14 year old Isimeli Maivitia ran 500 metres for his home in Tavua as two men tried to drag him into a vehicle.

The incidents followed an erlier case on Tuesday when a 16 year old boy was reportedly abducted from Lautoka, injected with a drug and woke up to find himself with his stomach shaven in apparent preparation for surgery in a hospital-lke room.

Latest reports say school attendance in Fiji's west has fallen drastically and many schools are keeping their gates locked and check the roll after every break.

The incidents come just as thousands of schoolchildren are beginning important public examinations and educators fear the current scare could have traumatic effects on their results.
