A pay dispute between one of New Caledonia's biggest mining companies and a mine-workers' union has ended after three months.

Union mediators representing the mining industry settled the dispute between the firm - Montagnat, and the union of mine and dock workers - USTKE.

Mediators told the newspaper, Les Nouvelles Caledoniennes, that concessions had been made on both sides, in the collective spirit of the mining industry.

Work is expected to return to usual at the docks in Tontouta and Karembe, where one tanker is to be loaded with mined materials and is due to depart this week.

The company's ninety employees, along with thirty drivers and subcontractors, are now expected to return to work.
