The chief executive of the Tuvalu government-owned airline, Air Fiji, is reported to have been sacked.
The Fiji Times reports that Ken McDonald's dismissal has been confirmed by the secretary of the Transport Workers Union, Attar Singh, who says this is a matter of concern to his members.
The Tuvalu high commissioner in Suva and Air Fiji board member, Taukeilina Finikaso, agrees that the sacking was over differences with the board, but says he would make no further comment until he hears from his government.
The Tuvalu government is the majority shareholder in Air Fiji which was previously owned by the former Fiji finance minister Jim Ah Koy's family.
Attar Singh says no worker should be treated the way Mr McDonald has been and if he challenges his case in court, he would get justice.
