The Samoan prime minister says he hopes that within five years Samoa can reach world class standards in the information technology sector.

Tuilaepa Sailele says rapid advances have been made in the field and the government is making an effort to improve the infrastructure.

He says while there is still a need to rely on foreign expertise, the country has great potential.

"'There's a kind of high expectation.... I am trying to push and push and push our own technicians as much as possible to the limit - if they can ensure that we are on par with the rest of the world in the next five years, I am happy'"
